lu limone

Lu Limone, Castro

Lu limone represents the true Mediterranean essence, characterized by the scents of maritime vegetation such as the majestic lemon tree grown in the courtyard and preserved during the entire renovation work.

The house develops in depth starting from the ground floor of this twentieth-century building with Art Nouveau features with direct access from the street. The structure has the typical characteristics of Mediterranean houses, including the ground-level entrance with garden view, made up of a succession of rooms on a long and deep lot. Lu Limone offers two double bedrooms with two bathrooms, one of which is en suite), a small courtyard with Mediterranean stairs that connect it to the gravel garden (where the vegetable garden used to be) now characterized by a spacious "ducchena" where you can relax on a warm, quiet summer evening. In the garden there is a small fountain, which has been skilfully preserved and is flanked by the swimming pool: the aim was to make the sound of the water heard in the rooms overlooking the garden. As for the materials used, local products were chosen: carparo, Lecce stone, Trani stone and dark metal windows to rejuvenate the house a bit.

The white kitchen marries perfectly with the Trani floor laid running, while the ceiling of the bathroom has exposed wooden beams in the Greek style, given the close proximity to the Apulian territory of Grecia Salentina. The perfectly "green" house features an underfloor air conditioning system and air recycling with a forced mechanical ventilation system, as well as solar thermal on the roof but well camouflaged.

The property retains three different types of vault: barrel, star and plain vaults, while a fireplace made by a local craftsman with a mixture of stones stands in the living room. The sober and Mediterranean furniture skilfully mixes the rural style with the metropolitan one, obtaining as a result a refined but also cheeky furniture thanks to the numerous pieces of furniture made of straw and rope with original and gogliardic shapes.
